L'incidence des maladies auto-immunes affectant la peau ou les organes internes ne cesse d’augmenter, mais à un rythme qui ne peut s'expliquer que par la génétique. Cela souligne l'importance des causes environnementales dans l'initiation et, éventuellement, la progression des maladies. Les polluants et les microorganismes (par exemple, les virus) peuvent endommager nos cellules directement et entraîner la production d'auto-anticorps par notre système immunitaire contre nos propres cellules. Mon programme de recherche est axé sur la compréhension de l'interaction entre l'environnement et les maladies auto-immunes affectant la peau, en particulier l'urticaire chronique et la sclérose systémique. Bien que ces deux maladies soient de nature auto-immune, elles sont complètement différentes en ce qui concerne leur présentation clinique et leur pronostic, ce qui les rend idéales pour être étudiées en parallèle.Membre de l'équipe
