Dr. Marina Klein, a senior scientist in the Infectious Diseases and Immunity in Global Health Program and Centre for Outcomes Research and Evaluation at the RI-MUHC, has been awarded a $25 million grant from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). This funding will enable her to lead the transformation of the Pan-Canadian HIV/AIDS Clinical Trials Network (CTN) into the expanded CTN+.

Expanded Scope and Goals
Originally established in 1990 as a cornerstone of Canada’s federal AIDS Strategy, the CTN will now broaden its focus under CTN+. The newly expanded network will address all sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs), aiming to advance research in prevention, treatment, and management strategies.

New Organizational Framework
CTN+ will feature a restructured framework with five regional teams and four specialized think tanks. This new structure is designed to decentralize research efforts, enhance regional responsiveness, and integrate diverse community perspectives.
