My research is focused upon studying bacterial pathogens associated with life-threatening infections, particularly in the critically ill. We utilize proteomic approaches (both shotgun and targeted) to study how these pathogens adapt to antibacterial therapies being administered. Our goals are to characterize adaptations that may reduce therapeutic efficacy, and similarly, to understand how the pathogens modulate their virulence factors to cause disease. We further study post-translational modifications in bacteria to understand how they may be involved in the coordinated response to antibiotics with the aim of describing potential new drug targets.Team Members
