Congratulations to Dr. Madhukar Pai's team that just got a 1.6 million CAD grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Covid-19 pandemic is wreaking havoc with TB services, especially in low and middle income countries with high rates of TB (see a recent report on this).

Our grant will focus on 3 countries (India, Nigeria and Indonesia) which have a big burden of TB and have large private health sectors. The goal of our project is to enrich our understanding of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the functioning of private healthcare markets in these 3 countries, and identify the implications for tuberculosis private provider engagement. — Dr. Madhukar Pai

This grant complements the recent CIHR COVID-19 Operating Grant grant on integrating the testing of tuberculosis and Covid-19 in Peru.
