Research Interests

My research focuses on the molecular mechanisms involved in the regulation of inflammatory response in asthma, cystic fibrosis and cancer. It involves preclinical studies testing novel anti-inflammatory drugs on cystic fibrosis lung disease, allergic asthma and colon cancer. Our research team has discovered pharmacological intervention which enables to normalize fatty acids metabolism distortion during chronic bacterial infections in cystic fibrosis, chronic allergic responses, and acute spinal cord injuries leading to permanent motor dysfunction. My laboratory has developed mouse models of cystic fibrosis lung disease, mouse models of allergic asthma, genetically controlled airway hyperresponsiveness and atopy, and mouse models of colon cancer. Our research also explores the role of chromatin remodelling in the regulation of transcriptional regulation and the mechanisms of posttranscriptional control of genes involved in the control of inflammatory response. We have identified drugs and therapies which can improve Cystic fibrosis lung disease and allergic asthma. One of the drugs are working on has received an orphan drug designation from the FDA and we are in the final stage of preparing for a Phase 1b clinical trial to test its safety and therapeutic potential in patients suffering from cystic fibrosis.
