Bio
Dr. Leo Liu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology and a member of the McGill University Research Centre for Complex Traits and Mark Wainberg Centre for Viral Diseases. His research centres on virus-host interactions, with a particular focus on nucleic acid immunity and viral modulation of innate immune responses. His current research includes innate immune sensing and regulatory mechanisms during coronavirus infection, as well as the design of novel RNA viral vectors for vaccine use. Dr. Liu has been recognized with several awards, including the 2021 Pfizer Junior Investigator Award (International Cytokine & Interferon Society), the 2023 Postdoctoral Leadership & Service Award (Cleveland Clinic), and the 2025 New Voices in Virology from the Journal of Virology (American Society for Microbiology).
