Research Interests

My research focuses on potential factors associated with accelerated chronic lung disease in HIV infection. Despite the success of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART), individuals with HIV appear to be at increased risk of chronic lung disease which cannot be accounted for by smoking alone. I am interested in the role of the lungs as reservoirs of HIV infection, in addition to the effect of pulmonary inflammation on the size of the lung HIV reservoir in individuals on effective HAART. I am also interested in pulmonary immune abnormalities in the context of HIV infection.
